Bhopal, Aug 27 The Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with devotion and ardour in the Capital on Saturday. Various religious and cultural programmes were organised to mark the festival. The devotees had started thronging the temples from early morning to participate in 'maha arti' and other rituals. Special preparations for the festival had been made at the temples. The Janmashtami procession and 'matki phod' competition at Nehru Nagar Chowk were the main attractions.
Attractive tableaux of Devkinandan were displayed in the temples. Even in Central Jail the birth of the Lord Krishna was celebrated and inmates participated enthusiastically in the programmes. At several places the 'Matki phodo' contests were organised. Prasads made of panjiri were distributed among devotees and children. Children dressed like Krishna of childhood participated in cultural programmes and contests.
