MORE THAN 2,000 dance enthusiasts are expected to attend an evening of non-stop dandiya festivities at a celebration organised by the Indian Ladies Association (ILA) later this month.
"The grand dandiya festivities will be an exciting package of music, dance, colour and vibrancy as people dance with colourful sticks to traditional dandiya music in ethnic costumes," said ILA entertainment secretary Shagufta Munshi.
The origin of these dance performances, or raas, can be traced back to the life of Lord Krishna, who is one of the chief gods in the Hindu religion.
