MUSCAT — Odissi dance came alive over the weekend with two back-to-back performances by prominent exponents of the art, from the land of Odissi dance — Orissa — itself. Audiences were left spellbound for two-and-a-half hours at the Oman Auditorium of Al Bustan Palace Hotel.
The third artiste presented an Abhinaya Kede Chhanda Jaanlo Sakhi composed by the famous Oriya poet Banamali. This composition depicted the engrossing episodes of Krishna Leela or Krishna’s adorable mischief. Vividly portrayed are the killing of demons like Bakasur, Kaliya demon and Viswarup Darshan as also Mother Yashoda’s astonishment at her son’s divinity. Krishna and the other characters were beautifully enacted by Lekha in a quick reversal of roles.
